As of January 1, 2013, Youth Oasis is one of only two emergency Children’s Shelters left in the state of Louisiana that houses children in the custody of the Louisiana Department of Child and Family Services (DCFS).
Youth Oasis believes all young people deserve to live in an environment that prompts emotional and intellectual growth as well as protects their well-being. We also believe that the local community can support and benefit from such a worthwhile endeavor.
The Baton Rouge Youth Coalition prepares high-achieving, under-resourced high school students to enter, excel in, and graduate from college so they can become full participants in society.
The Mayor-President is the Chief Executive Officer of the city and parish. Through partnering with Serve Louisiana, the AmeriCorps member will help create and implement a citywide high-impact service plan that will engage citizens in a multi-year effort to address pressing city needs through impact volunteerism. The high-impact service plan will focus on "impact volunteering"—volunteer strategies that target community needs, use best practices, and set clear outcomes to measure progress.
